Another Kind of Lost

Forget Formspring and Facebook for a day! If you're like me, you like to read but have hardly any time to! I love getting lost in a great book but it has to be really good!

So, even though the snow is melting away, here are some of my favorites that you're sure to love!

The cover says it all. I am SO glad that Mama E assigned this as our last book to read of Junior year. Anyone who's into a deep meaningful read, this is screaming your name! Hands down, my favorite book! This old man will win your heart and leave you wanting to read this book over and over, which I have twice! I want to share the wisdom of Morrie Schwartz to the world!

Morrie Schwartz is Mitch Albom's college professor. Maybe you're like Mitch. Maybe you lost track of a mentor as you made your way through the world. Wouldn't you like to see that person again, ask the bigger questions that still haunt you, receive wisdom for your busy life today the way you once did when you were younger? Mitch Albom had the second chance. He rediscovered Morrie in the last months of the the older man's life. Knowing he was dying, Mitch visited Morrie every Tuesday, just as they used to in college. Their rekindled relationship turned into one final "class": lessons in how to live.

Okay, I admit, Mama E made us read this. She made us read a lot of books! But this one, was really good! The story of the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby and his love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan, of lavish parties on Long Island at a time when "gin was the national drink and sex the national obsession". It's based within the 1920s. So next time Mrs. Esslinger talks about her next assignment, try not to groan before you think!

My favorite everyday book!

These are my must see movies! I have currently seen some of these and some of these are oldies but I love passing along a good movie because not everyone likes to read! So, go out and hit the redbox!

In her early thirties, Elizabeth Gilbert (played by the wonderful Julia Roberts) had everything a modern American woman was supposed to want - husband, country home, successful career - but instead of feeling happy and fulfilled, she felt consumed by panic and confusion. This wise and rapturous story unfolds of how she left behind all these outward marks of success, and of what she found in their place. Following a divorce and a crushing depression, Gilbert set out to examine three different aspects of her nature, set against the backdrop of three different cultures: pleasure in Italy, devotion in India, and on the Indonesian island of Bali, a balance between worldly enjoyment and divine transcendence.

This is a romantic comedy. Two women played by Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz, live 6,000 miles away and are total strangers. They both are unhappy with their lives, trade homes (from sunny California to snow covered English countryside) only to find that a change of address can change their lives. Winslet falls in love with a man who is about to marry another woman. Diaz, across the globe, realizes the man she lives with has been unfaithful. The two women find themselves in the exact same place. Diaz falls in love with the lovely Graham (Jude Law), which is worth the entire movie! ;) Winslet finds herself a new romance in Jack Black. Definitely, a must see.

Although an oldie, definitely on my top list. Mariah Carey plays a talented young singer, Billie Frank, struggling to make it big in New York City. She has tremendous will and determination along with a voice like an angel. With the help of a handsome nightclub DJ, she quickly learns that the roller coaster ride to success is as treacherous as it is glamorous. This is one that I can watch over and over!

Carrie Bradshaw. Samantha Jones. Charlotte York. Miranda Hobbes.

I think we all recognize these four rich city gals.

Most of us can only dream of their lifestyle.

FYI: I will have Carrie Bradshaw's closet from this movie!

To save the best for last!

My favorite actress, Katherine Heigl and my favorite actor, Gerard Butler come together to collaborate the most hilarious romantic comedy I have ever seen. This wildly funny battle of the sexes is sure to knock you off your feet. Abby, a successful morning show producer, is looking for a lot in a man. Mike, her obnoxious TV star, knows men only want one thing. Determined to prove that she's not romantically challenged, Abby takes Mike's advice during a promising new romance, but the unexpected results will stun everyone.
